Here's what renowned wine writer Ray Jordan had to say about it..
Atze’s Corner Bachelor shiraz 2020 ($35)
Plenty to like about this succulent and thoroughly delicious medium to full bodied Barossa shiraz. It’s so silky smooth with bright red fruits a feature. A little dollop of chocolate works well; with a subtle dried herb and sage character. Fine thread of tannins hold it nicely while the oak has been neatly judged. In fact it’s 25% new French with a mix of older French and American.
I’m feeling a nice piece of rare beef happening here!

Bachelor Shiraz, tremendous soils and handcrafted tradition.
Named after Bert Kleining, a bachelor who worked the land on
which the fruit is now sourced from. John Kalleske bought the land
when Bert passed away while doing what he love most, working
with his livestock feeding hay. This land would become the site for
some of Johns most prized vineyards, the ancient deep red clays
of Bert’s old block are the secret of the concentration and structure
you see in this wine.
