Fitting for so many occasions . . .

This smooth, light yet full-bodied red has found a place for us on so many occasions. It works with quick treats, pasta meals, many meat dishes and even a stand-alone relaxation treat. Sad that having purchased six all too recently, I've almost depleted my stock!

My favourite GSM

I went to Atze's Corner winery when I was visting the Barossa and Andy looked after us with great tastings and a delicious cheese platter. I fell in love with their GSM. I have since bought a case and was pleasantly surprised that they did not charge shipping to Sydney. This will be my go to red wine permanetly now.

Soft savoury delicious wine

I had been advised to give this wine time to breathe before tasting, so opened at least 30 minute before wanting to drink. On opening I found it tannic with a slight bitterness. This had disappeared by the time I tasted the wine. I found the nose to be unexpected for a relatively young Barossa red in that, for me, it was not bursting with young red fruit, but was much more like a good Bordeaux red. It had a deep rich nose, earthy, maybe red plums, but also coffee and dark chocolate. In my mouth however there was a lightness and liveliness, unexpected after the deepness of the nose. I also found a fruitiness, caramel and a soft savoury deliciousness.

Thanks very much for the great review Judy, very very well described!

The perfect accompaniment

If only we had discovered Atze's Corner wines earlier. We found their magnificent winery in the Barossa while visiting my now Adelaide based daughter. Our group had wine preferences ranging from the lighter white varieties through to the bold Shiraz and Cabernets and a local suggested the GSM as a suitable drop to match the proposed pasta meal and group's tastes. From that first sip every one of us were converts. Smooth, deep without overwhelming and capable of meeting the needs of many dish varieties. If only I had purchased a case or two a few years ago!
