NEW RELEASE VINTAGE

Indulge in the richness and warmth of Barossa Valley with our exquisite Opulent Shiraz. This fruit-driven masterpiece boasts all the ripe black fruit flavors you love, a true reflection of the renowned Barossa style. Sourced from the esteemed Kalleske's Estate in the Northern region of the Barossa Valley, this wine is a testament to our traditional handcrafted approach, ensuring every sip is a pure and expressive delight.

Tasting Note: Opulent Shiraz exudes the essence of Barossa Valley's opulence. Plush, full-bodied, and luscious, its deeply colored and equally flavored profile entices the senses. Embrace the inviting warmth of cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, and coffee on the bouquet and palate. Bursting with black cherries and sweet, spicy damson plums, this wine truly captivates.

Pairing: Embrace the culinary delights of grilled red meat or savor the harmony with creamy and cheesy tomato-based dishes for an unforgettable pairing.

Alcohol: 14.5%

Vinification: Our meticulous vinification process includes cold soaking on skins to extract color, followed by extended skin contact for 16 days to impart structure and weight to the palate. The gentle press and secondary fermentation in oak barrels add finesse and character.

Maturation: Aged for 12 months in 2nd-4th fill American and French oak barrels, this wine attains its distinct personality and complexity.

Vineyards: The grapes for Opulent Shiraz come from vines planted between 1990 and 2005 in the iconic subregions of Koonunga and Ebenezer, both prized grape-growing areas within the Barossa Valley. The ancient soils in this region restrict vine growth, yielding a wine of unparalleled intensity and concentration.

Cellaring: Allow this wine to evolve gracefully in the cellar for up to 10 years, witnessing its transformation from dark fruit-packed youth to a softer, more complex and nuanced maturity.

Experience the allure of Opulent Shiraz, a true expression of Barossa Valley's finesse and flavor. Unlock the potential of this remarkable Shiraz and embark on a journey of taste and elegance.

    Background/Story:

This is a fruit-driven Shiraz with all the ripe black fruit flavours we’ve come to expect from the Barossa Valley favourite.

As with all Atze’s wines, this has been made using the traditional artisan approach - destemmed without crushing, delicately moved to the fermenter to keep the grapes intact, hand pumped over and basket pressed to create a pure and expressive wine.

    Vinification/Maturation

Cold soaked on skins to extract colour and extended skin contact after fermentation for a total of 16 days adds structure and weight to the palate. Gently pressed and allowed to undergo secondary fermentation in Oak barrels.
16 months in American and French oak barrels.

    Vineyard:

Located in the iconic sub region of Koonunga and Ebenezer this is from one of the Barossa Valley’s most prized grape growing regions. The ancient soils in this area restrict the vines growth and give us a wine high in intensity and concentration.

    Vintage:

2022 will go down as one of the classic Barossa
Vintages in recent history. A mild summer has helped the wines show powerful fruit weight and balance.

Top of its class

I keep falling for gimmicks at the local bottle shop, paying up to $80 looking for that special something and I keep being disappointed. Not anymore, Atzes A label will knock off just about anything under $50 from your local. I won't waste my time and money looking anymore, when you are on a good thing, stick to it! The A label is a thoroughly enjoyable wine, soft on the mouth, good fruit, good tannin and smooth on the finish. Of course you can buy better, but you don't have to go far, just have to look at A labels big brothers! :) Darren

Atzes wine, beautiful one day, perfect the next!

Every time I compare this wine with something in a similar price range, Atzes wins hands down. Great body, good fruit, soft and weighty in the mouth, good tannin, great finish. Punching well above its weight!
