With this exclusive single vineyard you are getting a rare limited edition wine (only 200 dozen bottles made).
This extravagant wine comes with a dramatic story... In its first year, a group of sheep, affectionately named “The Mob”, squeezed through a hole in the vineyard fence. It was a tragedy for the vines, and almost proved to be fatal for this tiny patch of the estate. They ravished the whole plot! But all was not lost. Three years later and the first crop of grapes to be delivered from these tough young vines are second to none. That’s the beauty of growing on ironstone and red clay.
Deeply coloured, as we all love our Barossa reds to be, the Atze’s take on this style is full of dark cherries and blackberries supported by a spine of fine, savoury tannins. Its richness and juicy-fruit is clearly Barossa but there’s more than a nod, in the savoury, food-friendly style to Italy.
It's a real crowd pleaser and it has a history of numerous awards to back up its world class pedigree.

2021 Vintage - New Release
Single vineyard wines are always produced on a small scale, but our Montepulciano wine is especially exclusive. We only produced 35 dozen bottles of this rare, limited-edition wine.
How “The Mob” Came to be..
Our extravagant Montepulciano red wine has a dramatic backstory. In its first year, a group of sheep (affectionately named “The Mob”) squeezed through a hole in the vineyard fence. It was a tragedy for the vines, and it almost proved to be fatal for this tiny patch of the estate. The sheep ravished the entire plot!
Luckily, all was not lost. Three years later, the first crop of grapes to be delivered from these tough young vines ripened, and we soon discovered that they were second to none. (That’s the beauty of growing on ironstone and red clay.) In fact, they were so perfect, we decided to use them for an extra special wine.
Our Montepulciano Wine
We all love our Barossa reds to be deeply coloured, and Montepulciano is no exception. The tone is a deep purple – almost inky. The Atze’s Corner take is full of dark cherries and blackberries. This primary flavour is supported by a spine of fine, savoury tannins, low in acidity but highly aromatic.
The wine’s richness and juicy fruit is clearly Barossa, but in this savoury profile there’s more than a nod to the food-friendly style of Italy. The wine has notes of both spice and pepper – almost a rustic touch, especially when paired with food. Its full-bodied texture is thick, close to syrupy.
Our exclusive Montepulciano wine is a real crowd pleaser with fans of Atze’s Corner. And, it has a history of receiving numerous awards from the experts to back up its world-class pedigree.

Andy has adopted Montepulciano along with a swathe of other Italian varieties, introduced them to his family’s Barossa vineyards and is making the wine with his usual flair. But it was a close run thing with the Montepulciano; a mob of excited sheep nearly grazed the young vines to death. Resurrected, and I suppose, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, the 2016 vintage has produced a cracking wine. |

GIANT 2020 DURIF
96 Points - Wine State magazine
The Durif red wine grape is one of Australia’s undiscovered gems. We suspect that people in the know keep quiet about it so as not to arouse too much competition for what is, after all, a scarce bottle of wine. Atze’s Corner is one of the only wineries in the Barossa Valley to have planted Durif, and based on the outstanding results, there is a plan to plant more in the future.
Named 'The Giant' in tribute to an overly tall Barossa settler, the wine fully lives up to that description in all respects. You just have to witness the colour, which is a luminous purple black!
It’s dark and deliciously deep. The bouquet is brooding, dark and moody with black fruits and sweet spices, maybe a hint of liquorice too. A full-bodied wine with crafted, harmonious tannins backed up with a fresh line of acidity the fruit shines vividly.
For a variety noted for its robust tannins, this wine has got them fully corralled and under control. Tannins are there, but the fruit is so rich that they meld seamlessly, giving the wine some backbone and future, but not, by any means, preventing you enjoying it straight away.
