It’s rich and concentrated with the full-body of the Barossa at its
best. Joyous sweet damson with clove and cinnamon spices on
the aroma. It’s a slick, high production values style of wine: velvety
smooth, full-bodied with graceful tannins and more of that spicy
and liquorice dark enveloping fruit. A serious drink. Decant it if
drinking now to open it up or leave it tucked safely in the cellar
for ten-fifteen years.

Vineyard: Formerly owned by Ken Boehm, Boehm’s Vineyard
is one of the most Northern blocks in the Barossa where the
soil is some of the most ancient planted to vine on the planet.
It consistently reaches A-grade level and inky black colour is
unmatched by any another Shiraz vineyard on the Atze’s Estate.
In fact it gives the blackest variety of them all, Durif, a run for it’s
money most years!

Vinification: Our meticulous vinification process includes cold soaking on skins to extract color, followed by extended skin contact for 16 days to impart structure and weight to the palate. The gentle press and secondary fermentation in oak barrels add finesse and character.
Maturation: Aged for 12 months in 2nd-4th fill American and French oak barrels, this wine attains its distinct personality and complexity.
Vineyards: The grapes for Opulent Shiraz come from vines planted between 1990 and 2005 in the iconic subregions of Koonunga and Ebenezer, both prized grape-growing areas within the Barossa Valley. This is a fruit-driven Shiraz with all the ripe black fruit flavours we’ve come to expect from the Barossa Valley favourite. As with all Atze’s wines, this has been made using the traditional artisan approach - destemmed without crushing, delicately moved to the fermenter to keep the grapes intact, hand pumped over and basket pressed to create a pure and expressive wine. |
Vinification/Maturation |
Cold soaked on skins to extract colour and extended skin contact after fermentation for a total of 16 days adds structure and weight to the palate. Gently pressed and allowed to undergo secondary fermentation in Oak barrels. |

I purchased a case of Boehm’s Black 2018 Shiraz for my wine collection and I opened my first bottle within two days of it arriving. I did exactly what I was told by Atze’s wine corner to Open my bottle two hours before drinking for it to breathe. The first class tasted good but the last glass was even better as it sat for longer which allowed to breathe longer this wine will age very well in my opinion. The bad part of this wine is I don’t think it will last very long in my wine fridge . My experience of dealing with Atze’s Wines was brilliant highly recommend this winery if you are a wine lover .
Fantastic rich and smooth wine. Just like all Atze’s wines this is one I’ll keep coming back to!
